The variety is a hybrid obtained from crossing the Medaille d'Or and Foxwhelp varieties. The tree is characterized by moderately strong growth and resistance to scab; flowering occurs at the end of May.

The fruits are late-ripening, mature in November, and have a red-striped coloration. The intended use of the variety is cider production, as the fruit juice possesses a mild bittersweet taste with a moderate tannin content.

In horticultural practice, confusion is possible regarding the identification of this variety, as trees sold under this name have sometimes turned out to be other varieties or had an indeterminate genetic profile upon genetic testing.
