Fruits are medium-sized, round-conical in shape, and slightly ribbed. A characteristic feature is the presence of a natural waxy bloom on the dark red skin, which gives the fruits a bluish tint. When the bloom is rubbed off, the fruit becomes red. The taste is described as mildly sweet, aromatic, sometimes sweet-and-sour.
The tree is characterized as hardy and winter-resistant. Vigor varies depending on the rootstock; on vigorous rootstocks, it reaches 8 meters. Fruits reach harvest maturity in mid- to late October and, with proper storage, retain their consumer qualities until February.
