The fruits of this late-winter variety ripen in October. They possess a rich taste, firm flesh, and retain their marketability until spring or early summer when stored under specialized conditions.

The variety is of foreign origin and is widely used in commercial orcharding. It includes a number of mutant forms, for example, Brebern Hillwell, which is distinguished by improved coloration and taste properties.

The plant possesses relative resistance to cold and diseases; when grown in intensive orchards, it requires regular preventive protection measures.
