The fruits of this variety have a two-colored skin with a predominantly red hue; the flesh is tender, juicy, and aromatic. The variety belongs to the sharp or acidic taste category and is used as a processing apple for producing cider.

The plant possesses low susceptibility to apple tree canker and medium susceptibility to scab. The variety is an old folk selection, common in the Brittany and Pays d'Auge regions.
