The Eksotika (or Exotika) variety was developed in the 1980s in Latvia by breeder Rūdolfs Dumbravs. The variety was obtained on the basis of hybrid number AMD-20-40-14.
The variety belongs to the mid-season category, and the fruits have good quality. Due to its focus on breeding use, the variety is mentioned in scientific literature more often as genetic material for creating scab-resistant hybrids than as a commercial variety with a detailed description of market characteristics.
