The apple variety Engelstar, sometimes referred to as Engelstern, is the result of German breeding and appeared in 1997. The variety is included in official registers, in particular the database of the Federal Plant Variety Office of Germany, and is maintained in genetic resource inventory lists.

This variety is independent and separate from varieties such as Elstar and Gloster. Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant, such as tree height, maturity group, or disease resistance, are not presented in open reference materials.
