The fruits of this variety are medium-sized, sometimes small in case of an abundant harvest. They are characterized by an uneven, angular, or rhombic shape. The skin is smooth, turning yellow upon ripening with a deep dark-red or brownish-red blush.

The fruit flesh is firm and crisp. The taste is assessed as sweet, slightly acidic, with a light aroma. The variety belongs to culinary types; it is currently rare and is grown primarily in collection orchards as an heirloom variety.

The name Bellefleur is due to the appearance of the trees during the flowering period in April. Since this is a collective name for a group that also includes the Dubbele Bellefleur and Limburgse Bellefleur varieties, different related forms may be hidden under the general name.
