The variety is a sport of the James Grieve variety, discovered in 1953. The tree can vary from compact to medium-sized, reaching a height of 3–4 meters depending on the rootstock. Characterized by good winter hardiness down to -30°C and general lack of exacting requirements for growing conditions.

The fruits ripen in August to early September. They have a medium size, tender juicy flesh and are suitable both for fresh consumption and for culinary processing. To ensure yield, the presence of pollinator trees blooming at similar times is recommended.
