The variety is an intensely colored clone of the Erwin Baur apple. The medium-sized fruits have a yellow skin with an orange-red blush, dark stripes, and small light lenticels. The flesh is yellowish, firm, crisp, fine-grained, with a pear and melon aroma.

The tree is moderately vigorous, blooms early, and is recommended for zones 3–6. The variety is an autumn type, with harvest occurring in October. The fruits store well until March under cool conditions.

The variety is resistant to scab but susceptible to fire blight. It is characterized by biennial bearing, which is corrected by fruit thinning. The harvest is suitable for fresh consumption, making sauces, and cider production.
