ActiveMalus domestica (Suckow) Borkh. · Apple
Tagliani Francesco, Castagnoli Gianfranco, Leis Michelangelo, Martinelli Alessio
10 August 2026
The variety is autochthonous to Portugal, in particular, it is found in the Madeira and Algarve regions. Research into genetic diversity has established that the name «Espelho» serves as a synonym for the «Três ao Prato» variety.
The fruits of the variety are characterized by a large size and a pronounced sour taste. The variety demonstrates reduced susceptibility to fire blight (Erwinia amylovora). It is traditionally used for fresh consumption and can also be used in local production, including cider making.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
