The variety is an indigenous cultivar, distributed primarily in the Canavese area. The name has a deonymic origin and is linked to the name of a local farmer, Firmino, in whose honor the variety is also called Firminello.

The fruits are harvested in the third ten-day period of September. They are characterized by a tart taste, crisp flesh, and intense aroma. Detailed morphometric data on the tree or quantitative indicators of disease resistance are not provided in the sources.
