The tree is characterized by a medium vigor and a branching fruiting habit. The variety is distinguished by a late flowering period, which lasts for about 10 days. Genetic studies have confirmed that the variety «Malápio do Norte» is a synonym for «Focinho de Burro».

Fruits are large or very large, and relatively soft in texture. The variety shows resistance to scab and is suitable for both fresh consumption and processing. A high content of polyphenols is noted in the fruits, especially under organic cultivation methods.
