The North American variety Fortune is a hybrid of Schoharie Spy and Empire. The tree is medium-sized with a spreading crown. Fruits are medium to large, round or slightly oblong, with smooth shiny dark red skin. The flesh is firm and crisp, the taste is sweet-and-sour with a spicy hint.

The British variety Laxton’s Fortune was obtained by crossing Cox’s Orange Pippin and Wealthy. The tree is medium-sized, prone to fruiting at the tips of shoots. Fruits are round-conical, yellow-green with an orange-red blush and russeting. The flesh is creamy white, juicy, with an aroma of banana and anise. The variety is resistant to scab and powdery mildew.

The Russian summer variety Фортуна is characterized by an early ripening period in July. The tree is low-growing or moderately growing, with a compact crown. Fruits are of regular shape, light golden with a blush, weighing 180–200 g, with firm fine-grained flesh. High winter hardiness and resistance to diseases are claimed.
