The Fresnosa variety is a local Asturian variety of folk selection, intended for cider production and included in the regulations of the protected geographical indication Sidra de Asturias. The fruit ripens in the second ten-day period of November; the tree flowering period is mid-late.

The variety belongs to the technological group of acidic apples. Fruit composition indicators include a total acidity of 5.00 g/l expressed as sulfuric acid and a total phenol content of 0.93 g/l. The apple tree is characterized by very high yield and shows average susceptibility to fungal diseases.
