The variety is a winter type; the harvest takes place in October, and the consumer ripeness of the fruits occurs between December and March. The mature tree is characterized by moderately strong growth and forms a wide canopy, the height of which depends on the rootstock type.

The fruits have a flat-round, often ribbed shape and are medium to small in size. The ground color of the skin is greenish-yellow with reddish stripes or marbling. The flesh is cream-colored, firm, fine-grained, and juicy, possessing a sweet-and-sour taste with a spicy pineapple aroma.

The variety is sensitive to late spring frosts and drought, susceptible to Nectria canker and fire blight, while exhibiting relative resistance to scab. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, culinary use, and cider production, and can be stored for up to 4 months. There is a mutation called «Roter Berlepsch».
