The variety was obtained by crossing the varieties Aroma and P.R.I. 1858/102. Fruits are medium-sized, round-shaped, with a yellow background and a red blush. The flesh is characterized by firmness, a crunchy texture, and a refreshing acidic taste.

Harvesting is carried out in late September – early October, consumer maturity occurs in November-December, and the fruits retain quality until April. The variety is versatile: it is used fresh and for the production of flavored juices.

Genetic resistance to scab (Venturia inaequalis) allows the variety to be grown in organic orchards. In Sweden, Frida is classified as a club variety for specialized production.
