The Fresco (Wellant) variety was obtained by crossing the Elise variety with an unknown breeding clone. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth. The fruits have an elongated shape, an average weight of about 210 g, an intense medium to dark red coloration, and visible lenticels, sometimes with russeting at the stalk and calyx. The flesh is juicy, crisp, sweet with a hint of acidity, and has a distinct aroma.

A separate Fresco variety from the Malini series is a winter-ripening columnar apple tree. It is a compact plant adapted for small plots or cultivation in containers.
