The tree is vigorous, reaching 6–8 meters in height, with a semi-open crown, broad to rounded in shape, growth is often irregular. Fruits are large, round or flattened-round. The skin is rough, olive-green or brownish-green in color with a golden-brown, apricot or purple-red blush. The flesh is creamy-white, firm, juicy, with a pronounced sweet-sour taste and fresh aroma.

The variety is classified as winter, fruits are harvested from late September to mid-October. Trees are prone to biennial bearing. It is a triploid and is considered a poor pollinator for other varieties. The variety is susceptible to scab, and resistance to powdery mildew and canker is rated as low or moderate.

Cultivation requires annual heavy winter pruning and mandatory fruit thinning. Fruits store poorly in fresh form. The variety is considered one of the best culinary apples for making pies, purees, pastries, salads, and juice, and is less popular for fresh consumption.
