The "The Queen" apple variety (synonyms: Königin, Königinapfel) is an early variety with large, flat-globular, slightly ribbed fruits. The flesh has a low aroma. The variety is intended for culinary use and is prone to scab, fruit cracking in wet weather, the development of bitter pit, and poor fruit retention on branches.

In pomological sources, the German name "Königin" may refer to other varieties as well. Thus, "Königin der Renetten" is a synonym for the "Goldparmäne" variety. "Königin Sophienapfel" is characterized by egg-shaped fruits with a quince aroma, and the winter variety "Königin Olga Apfel" is distinguished by firm, juicy fruits with good keeping quality.
