The variety represents a group of red-colored types of the Fuji apple tree. The fruits ripen in October-November and require the use of special agrotechnical practices to achieve the characteristic color, including the use of light-reflecting films and the removal of foliage around the fruits.
Biologically, the variety is characterized by a long juvenile phase, limited formation of flower buds, and a pronounced tendency toward alternate bearing. The tree's genotype determines susceptibility to a fungal disease — Alternaria leaf spot.
In scientific literature, Nagafu 2 is often used as a model object for studying apple tree physiology, including processes of sugar metabolism, hormonal regulation of flowering, and bud differentiation under the influence of various agrotechnical methods.
