The Namedyer Gold variety, also known as Apfel aus Namedy, was bred in Germany at the end of the 19th century. The tree is medium-sized, forming a broad crown with obliquely positioned scaffold branches. The variety is diploid, characterized by mid-early flowering and requires fertile soil and regular pruning.

The fruits are light yellow, sometimes with reticulate russeting, and have a slightly elongated barrel-like or conical shape. The flesh is whitish, and the taste is characterized as pleasantly acidic. Harvest maturity occurs in early October, and the fruits can be stored until December.

The plant possesses high resistance to major diseases, including scab, powdery mildew, and fruit tree canker. The fruits are versatile in use: suitable for fresh consumption, making juices, mousses, baking, and drying.
