The Duchess of Oldenburg variety, known in Russia as Borovinka, is a winter-hardy, medium-sized tree with good vigor. The fruits are medium to large in size, round-flattened, and have a yellow-green color with red stripes. The fruit flesh is juicy, cream-yellow, and has a sweet-and-sour taste. The variety has resistance to scab but can be susceptible to fire blight. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and culinary use, however, they have poor keeping quality.

The Geheimrat Dr. Oldenburg variety is a medium-sized tree with an open-type crown, demanding regarding soil composition and nutrition. Its medium-sized fruits have a yellow-green color with a blush, loose juicy flesh with a sweet-and-sour taste, and are intended for fresh consumption. The tree is sensitive to canker when grown on poor soils, and the fruits have insufficient resistance to wind.
