The variety is distributed in the Guardea municipality of the Umbria region. According to local residents, the scions were brought from the Marche region after World War II. Currently, the variety is included in the regional register of autochthonous species threatened by genetic erosion.

The fruits are medium-small in size and spherical in shape. The name "Oleosa" (oily) reflects the presence of characteristic vitreous areas on the fruits. The apples ripen in October and are capable of being stored for many months after harvest.
