The Orpolin variety (also Orpolin jaune) is a representative of the folk selection of the Pays d'Auge region. The fruits ripen late, in November-December, and have a characteristic conical or flat shape with possible protrusions, as well as a long thin stalk. The skin color of the fruits is golden-yellow.

This apple tree belongs to cider varieties used exclusively for processing into alcoholic beverages due to its balanced flavor and aromatic properties. The trees possess high natural resistance to diseases typical of the humid climate of Normandy and are not a commercial dessert variety.
