Passé Pomme Rouge is a historical variety with numerous synonyms, such as Roter Sommerkalvill and Calville Rouge d'Été. The tree is characterized by low vigor, and the variety's genetic material is preserved in several European genebanks.

The fruits have a round-oblate shape and small size. The flesh is white, stained with red veins under the skin. When consumed fresh at the time of harvest, the fruits are juicy, crisp, and aromatic, but they quickly become mealy during storage.

The variety belongs to the summer maturity group and is used as a dessert apple, and is also suitable for culinary processing, particularly for baking, provided the fruits are harvested at the stage of incomplete maturity.
