The variety belongs to the autochthonous category and is represented by local ecotypes, such as Reineta Encarnada de Asturias and Reineta Encarnada de Ávila. Trees are characterized by medium productivity, flowering occurs at mid-early dates, and harvesting takes place in the third ten-day period of November.

The fruits have a rounded shape. The chemical composition is characterized by an acidity of about 4.97 g/l and a phenol content of about 1.00 g/l. The variety has good keeping quality, but is highly susceptible to fungal diseases, including apple scab and canker, which limits its cultivation in humid climates.
