In pomological literature, this name is often recorded as a synonym for well-known varieties such as Reinette de Champagne, Reinette du Canada, Reinette d'Espagne, and Reinette de Breda. There are also references to a rare variety, Reinette Blanche de Chatellerault, the fruits of which are characterized as medium-sized, green-yellow, with a sweet and sour taste.

Most varieties in this group belong to winter or late-winter forms that historically developed in Europe in the XVIII–XIX centuries. The characteristics of the trees and fruits depend on the specific genotype hidden under this name; therefore, a general morphological description is impossible.
