The French Grey Renette is a variety with fruits ranging from medium to large size, with a blunt-spherical shape. Their dense, rough skin has a pale yellow color and is almost completely covered in grayish-brown russeting, sometimes with a dull blush. The flesh is greenish-yellow, juicy, with a wine-sweet taste. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to fungal diseases, however, on dry soils, the fruits are prone to cracking and shedding.

Renetta Grigia di Torriana is a Piedmontese variety, the tree of which has moderate to weak vigor. Flowering occurs in the mid-early period. The fruits are medium-sized, flattened, and completely covered in russeting. The flesh is creamy-white, bittersweet. The variety is characterized by high keeping quality and resistance to scab, bitter pit, and apple aphid, which makes it suitable for organic cultivation.
