The tree of this variety has very vigorous growth and forms a wide, spreading crown. The variety is triploid, therefore it does not serve as a good pollinator for other apple trees. The tree is notable for its longevity when cultivated on heavy, moist, and calcareous soils.
The fruits are large, often weighing more than 200 g, with dense, juicy flesh and a characteristic leathery skin. The taste is distinctly acidic due to the high acid content, which masks the sugar level. It is a winter variety, ripening from the end of September to mid-October, and maintains its consumer qualities until March.
The variety has high resistance to fire blight and powdery mildew, but is sensitive to scab, bitter pit, and flesh browning. The fruits are considered universal and are used for cooking, baking, production of juices, cider, distillates, and are also consumed fresh.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
