The fruits range in shape from broadly conical to spherical and may taper toward the calyx. The primary skin color is whitish-green, complemented by a dull red blush and bright red stripes. The flesh is white, firm, juicy, possesses a sweet-and-sour wine flavor and a mildly spicy aroma, and is sometimes characterized as coarse-grained.
The consumption period for the fruits is January–March. The variety is used as a culinary apple, suitable for juice production and cider making. It has the synonym «Menznauer Jägerapfel» and is considered a distinct variety, despite potential discussions regarding its identity with «Rheinischer Winterrambur».
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
