The Scired apple variety, also known under the trade name Pacific Queen, was obtained as a result of breeding work in New Zealand. The parent forms Gala and Splendour were used in breeding the variety.

Scired apples belong to the dessert group and are intended for fresh consumption. The variety acts as valuable breeding material, on the basis of which the Dazzle and HOT84A1 varieties were bred. The fruits are distinguished by specific ripening periods, shape, and degree of skin roughness.
