The variety is a selection from a seedling population. Fruits have a bright red color, covering about 80% of the surface, with possible slight russeting near the stem. The average fruit weight is about 150 g.

The flesh of the fruit is cream-colored, firm, crisp, and juicy. The taste is characterized as sweet with moderate acidity and a pronounced aroma. In New Zealand conditions, harvesting falls within the period from February 15 to March 5.

The variety is used in genetic studies of apple scab resistance, particularly in the study of the Rvi2 gene. The fruits meet international standards for fresh market sales.
