The Schweizer Glockenapfel variety, also known by the names Glockenapfel, Altländer Glockenapfel, Weißer Winterglockenapfel, and Zvonkove, was introduced into cultivation in the 17th century. Its origin is associated with Switzerland, southern Germany, or the region along the Lower Elbe.

The fruits of this winter variety have good keeping quality and are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for culinary processing. The variety is characterized by a specific fruit shape, reflected in the name, and is considered well-tolerated by those with a predisposition to allergic reactions to apples.
