The variety is a spontaneous bud mutation of the Delicious variety. The trees are tall with a narrow-pyramidal crown that becomes almost spherical with age. Fruiting is concentrated on fruit-bearing twigs, spears, and spurs. The variety is self-sterile and requires the presence of pollinators.

The fruits are large, weighing 170–210 g, with a round-conical shape and ribbing at the calyx. The ground color is yellow, and the overcolor is an intense dark carmine-red or raspberry with streaks. The flesh is cream-colored, firm, juicy, and fine-grained; the taste is sweet, dessert-quality, without pronounced acidity.

The variety belongs to the late-winter group: the fruits ripen in October and retain their quality during storage until spring. It is characterized by high susceptibility to scab, weak drought tolerance, and low winter hardiness. It is the progenitor of many spur clones of the Delicious group.
