The Tjele æble variety, also known as Bødkeræble, was obtained from a seedling in the Central Jutland region. Fruits reach harvest maturity in the first half of September; consumption maturity occurs in September-October. The tree is diploid with a mid-early flowering type.

Fruits are of medium size (about 56 mm in length and 60 mm in diameter) and have a medium susceptibility to mechanical damage. The flesh is characterized as medium-juicy. The variety exhibits very high resistance to powdery mildew and apple tree canker, as well as moderate resistance to leaf scab while maintaining fruit health.
