The tree is of medium height with a semi-spreading crown and fruiting on spurs. The fruits are medium-sized and have a conical or cylindrical-conical shape with a pointed tip. The skin is smooth, waxy, and colored yellow with an intense dark red blush, sometimes with stripes. The white flesh has a characteristic texture.

The variety is late-maturing; harvesting takes place in October. Due to the high tannin content, the fruits are unsuitable for fresh consumption but are valued in cider production for adding astringency and body to the drink. The trees are productive but prone to biennial bearing.

The variety is self-sterile and requires the presence of pollinators. It is relatively resistant to scab, and the flowers are resistant to late spring frosts. Literature mentions the Geneva Tremlett's Bitter variety, which is the result of misidentification and differs from the original English variety.
