In Swedish sources, this name refers to local landrace varieties adapted to the climatic conditions of the region. They are not the result of modern industrial breeding and do not have a single standardized description of morphological traits or agrotechnical characteristics.

The fruits of these varieties were traditionally used for fresh consumption. Currently, these apple trees are preserved primarily in historical orchards and private collections as objects of cultural heritage and an element of regional biodiversity.
