The variety is a summer apple tree that has been grown in Finland since the 19th century and is presumably of northern Russian origin. The tree has moderate growth, a broad canopy with drooping branches, and reaches a height of 3–5 meters. The variety is used as a table and culinary apple, as well as a pollinator for other apple trees.

The fruits are large, light green in color with thin, shiny skin and juicy flesh, and are characterized by a sweet-and-sour taste. Harvest ripening occurs in August. The variety is demanding of soil fertility, requires good drainage and liming, and may be susceptible to apple scab in periods of high humidity.
