In official Czech variety testing bulletins, the name Vitan appears in lists attributed to the company SEMPRA PRAHA a.s., however, contradictions arise when delineating species: in some documents the variety is classified as an apple tree, in others as a plum or currant.

In literature describing the variety as an apple tree, it is mentioned as a hybrid of Golden Delicious and the TE hybrid in the context of breeding programs for disease resistance. Comprehensive morphological characteristics of the fruits or the tree are absent in available materials.
