The variety has a branched root system, more developed than that of the Iroquois and Vernal varieties. According to the fall dormancy classification, it belongs to the moderately winter-hardy group (Fall Dormancy 5).
The variety possesses resistance to Phytophthora root rot and field resistance to the herbicide atrazine. It is used as a forage crop for hay, haylage, or grazing.
