The variety is a local landrace historically associated with the province of Ávila. Its prevalence in cultivation is gradually declining. There is scientific evidence suggesting potential synonymy with the Verdial de Badajoz variety, although genetic differences between samples remain a subject of research.

Used primarily for local table olive production. The variety exhibits resistance to anthracnose (Colletotrichum) infection. The phenolic profile of the oil is characterized by a high content of specific compounds, such as oleacein.
