The FASOLONA variety is characterized as dual-purpose. The plant productivity is average, with a pronounced tendency toward alternate bearing. The variety possesses good resistance to low temperatures; however, it shows high susceptibility to olive fruit fly infestation.

The oil obtained from the fruits of this variety is distinguished by a high oleic acid content with average fruitiness indicators and a medium-low level of phenols. The variety is included in the list of authorized varieties for the production of olive oil with the protected geographical indication Olio Lucano.
