The FOLGUEIRA variety was identified among old olive trees in Galicia, Spain. Its identification is based on the results of molecular profiling using SSR markers and botanical analysis conducted by scientific specialists in the field of olive genetic resources.

Currently, the variety is at the study stage to determine its biological characteristics and potential for olive oil production. Detailed morphological descriptions, data on disease resistance, and agrotechnical parameters of the plant are currently absent in open scientific publications.
