The M-38 variety is used as a male pollinator in commercial and experimental pistachio orchards. It belongs to the late-flowering varieties, which allows it to be used effectively for pollinating many female varieties.

Scientific studies note the influence of the M-38 genotype on progeny traits. For instance, when crossed with the female variety Larnaka, the progeny was characterized by a smaller trunk diameter, while in combination with the Mateur variety, the progeny stood out for the intense green color of the kernel.
