The Joley tree has moderate vigor. The nuts have an almond shape, resembling Sicilian varieties, and are characterized by a high degree of shell splitting.

The variety ripens approximately 10 days earlier than the Kerman variety. In California conditions, it showed a tendency for fruit staining and sensitivity to diseases and pests, due to which it did not become widespread in commercial horticulture.
