Pistacia vera is a deciduous tree reaching up to 10 meters in height. The crop is dioecious, therefore the presence of both male and female trees is necessary for fruiting. The plant is hardy, adapted to arid conditions and poor calcareous soils, but is sensitive to spring frosts.

The harvest is collected in the second half of August. The nuts of the variety are distinguished by an intense taste, pronounced aroma, bright green kernel color, and a crunchy texture. An important commercial quality of the fruits is the shell's tendency for natural dehiscence. The fruits are used fresh, roasted, and salted, as well as in the confectionery industry.
