Variety description

10 August 2026

Bronte pistachios are grown in the volcanic soils of the slopes of Etna. Trees of the species Pistacia vera L. are typically grafted onto Pistacia terebinthus rootstock, which provides high drought tolerance and adaptation to rocky lava landscapes. The height of the trees does not exceed five meters.

The fruits are characterized by an elongated shape, a thin shell, and an emerald-green kernel color due to high chlorophyll content. The plants are characterized by a biennial bearing cycle, in which an abundant harvest is collected every two years. Harvesting is carried out exclusively by hand at the end of August or the beginning of September.

The plants are distinguished by high hardiness and are capable of growing in poor soils without the use of regular irrigation and fertilizers. Products obtained from the Napoletana cultivar are valued for their intense aroma and flavor, due to the specific growing conditions.
