Variety description

10 August 2026

The Ashoury variety, also known as Red Aleppo, is one of the three most important female pistachio varieties in Syria. This dioecious plant requires the presence of pollinator trees and is adapted to the Mediterranean climate, requiring 600–700 hours of winter chilling.

Trees of this variety are characterized by high productivity and the ability to grow on alkaline, saline, and poor soils. The fruits are characterized by a medium or slightly smaller than medium size and a high percentage of shell splitting. The variety is used for nut production, and its seedlings are used as rootstock.
