Variety description

10 August 2026

The plant is a deciduous dioecious tree ranging from 5 to 7 meters in height. The fruits are drupes with a hard smooth shell that opens naturally upon ripening. The oval or rounded fruits contain an oblong bright green kernel covered by a red skin.

Flowering occurs in April–May, with harvest taking place from late summer to September or October. The onset of fruiting occurs in the 6th–10th year, characterized by alternate bearing. The nuts possess an intense taste and aroma, containing 45–55% fats and 20–23% proteins.

The crop is well adapted to growth on poor calcareous soils in arid climate conditions. The fruits are consumed raw or roasted and are also used as an ingredient in the confectionery industry.
