The Aquila variety is used as a sod-forming grass for creating lawns. Visually, the variety is characterized as dull. Studies in the 1980s assigned it average turf quality ratings.

The variety demonstrates resistance to salt stress and infestation by the insect pest Sphenophorus parvulus. At the same time, historical data indicate the plant's susceptibility to the fungal disease Helminthosporium vagans.
